Republic has several beautiful parks with paved walking trails for outdoor recreation along with the Republic Community Center for year round activities. Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, located just minutes east of Republic, is the location of the first Civil War Battle west of the Mississippi. The visitor’s center has a theater, exhibits, and maps. A 5 mile tour road and trails allow complete access to the park. You can see the restored 1852 Ray House and “Bloody Hill”, the scene of the heaviest fighting. The battlefield has acquired the largest collection of privately owned Civil War artifacts relating to the war in the Trans-Mississippi Theater consisting of approximately 10,000 items, including uniforms, weapons, flags, photographs and personal effects. Administered by the National Park Service.
You will also appreciate Republic’s proximity to the entertainment capital, Branson, Missouri. Located just 40 minutes away. Branson is home to Silver Dollar City. Close to Republic you will find several lakes providing fishing, camping and boating.
